Distributor?

Distributor?
I have 1991 Ford F-150 2wd automatic in-line 6. I took of the distributor cap because it was loose I put it back on and now the truck won’t start the fire-order is the right place the wires are in good I changed the spark plugs. It turns but won’t start any ideas why?

Answer:

All you did was take the cap off and put it back on, or new one on? I would look around and make sure you didn’t unplug something by accident.

Are you sure that you didn’t put it in upside down, or turned it at all, because turning your DC changes the timing, and if the timing is off, an engine will not run properly or at all, unless you know how to change it for performance.

    It’s a two piece cap.
Are both sections snapped into each other correctly??
Did you install it the correct way around – May be 180° out??
    Did you disturb the rotor??

I would wonder how the cap became loose in the first place. Maybe it’s cracked.
